“My sculptures are doors to the invisible passages within humans…”
— Hasan Cingiz
The artist, who continues his productions in Bodrum today, aims to develop new exhibitions and public art projects on an international scale.
Migration to the Third Dimension Hasan Cingiz's gypsies migrated from the canvas.
It is the nature of art, migration. Even though the artist does not return to the place where he set out, a part of his works remains connected to that place. Works of art do not transform. They migrate. In his series created by pouring paint on canvas in 2008, Hasan Cingiz conveyed the joyful life of gypsies with stylized figures.
The scattered, spaceless and anonymous figures were in joy. The series continued on canvas for a while longer. Then the gypsies fell silent. The stasis on the canvas began to disturb the artist.
Shakespeare said in his play The Tempest: "When everything caught fire, everyone except the sailors threw himself into the bubbling salt water and abandoned the boat. The first to jump down was the King's son Ferdinand, with his hair standing upright, As if it were reeds, not hair...
” Genghis's gypsies also jumped out of the canvas. They are still anonymous, placeless and scattered. Her hair is like vibrating musical notes. Their lives, like their souls, are rebellious.
Hasan Cingiz began to question the nomadism of art in the eyes of the gypsies. The materials of the figures migrating to the sculptures also support the movement. One of the sculptures creates an environment of conflict that is not reflected outside, while admiring a kitsch figurine; A work of art looking at a mass-produced trinket.
Nomads who are not dependent on place, gypsies who are not dependent on things. The rebellious nomads who could not be captured by the consumer society are now charting their own path.
The artist has works from the gypsies series in Turkish and European collections. Some of the gypsies, which were exhibited several times and were highly appreciated by the audience, were purchased by collectors before they even appeared in the gallery. It establishes a sincere bond between the nomadic spirit of the artist's own works and real nomads.
