This sculpture was born inspired by the mysterious atmosphere of the ancient Mount Nemrut. The artist reinterprets the spirit of this magical geography, which carries the layers of history to the present, with a modern material palette. While the ceramic cubes, shaped by the warmth of terracotta, remind us of the weathered surfaces of the giant stone heads of Nimrod, the unique texture and tone of each whispers the different traces left by time on them.
The metal construction that forms the skeleton of the statue reminds us of the temporary but vital structures we encounter during the restoration processes of historical buildings. This industrial language symbolizes modern interventions to repair the fragility of the past. Just like an archaeologist patiently digging the soil, the artist brings together this metal mesh and ceramic cubes, revealing the effort to reconstruct history.
While the sculpture echoes the silent wait at the top of Nemrut, it builds a bridge between the past and the present through the modern materials used. This unique combination of ceramics and metal is both a tribute to the monumentality of the ancient world and emphasizes that history is a constant process of reinterpretation and understanding. This work, which invites the viewer to a journey through the layers of time, continues its existence as a contemporary interpretation that carries the spirit of Nimrod.
